I'm torn. New hybrid truck, very little space to put the computer...

So I bought a new vehicle, a 2006 GMC SIerra 1500 Ext cab HYBRID. The hybrid system is located under the rear seat, occupying the entire space. That leaves about nowhere else to put a car pc. Presently, from the old car, I have a biostar micro atx setup. Optimally, I would like to reuse this, because I really don't want to spend the $200 on a new mini ATX and CPU, let alone $400 on a nano and hope to hide in the storage compartment somewhere. My question is, I'm considering trying to blend it in well enought that I could actually install a slim micro case on the back seat. Right in the middle between the two seats on the sides. I don't mind giving up the 5th seat at all, and I think I just might be able to make it look presentable. Any thoughts or other suggestions?

remove your interior body pannels and make a bracket or pannel in the cavern.
also, J187 do you know that you can put all of your CarPC information in a little drop down box like I have under my screen name? it frees up your signature for other things.

Check your User CP for the menu to do it.

Wasn't aware of the drop-down box. Haven't been around in a while. What interior panels are you referring to? Are you suggesting that for the micro or are you suggesting I buy a mini or nano and proceed? Thanks for the input.

Its difficult for me to determine exactly what part of the car that is, perhaps a little description would be helpful. Thanks for the suggestios.

It's the side wall of her GTI's trunk. But that doesn't really matter.

All Red is saying is that you should open up some interior panels inside your truck and see if there's enough room to stuff the mobo + accessories underneath them.

Thanks, actually it does matter, I wasn't sure if that picture was supposed to be of a truck's interior, I understood what she was saying and Its works out nicely in trunk space, however behind the panels of my truck there is

    a. no area deep enough for a micro
    b. no area not taken up by crumple zones, wires, braces.

Good suggestion, but just not going to work for the truck. My family has owned a body shop for 30 years and I've installed car audio for 10. I'm no stranger to creative solutions, but I'm looking for outside ideas. Thanks guys. At this point I'm starting to think I should just suck it up and get a mini-ITX.....

It's not in the trunk...it's a 2 door car. So if you take the pannel that's next to the back seat and remove that, that's where it is...where the rear speakers would be normally.

    Yeup, that's it!
