Cool. Thanks for the info and quick reply.

My goal is to mount a motorized flip down touch screen in front of the double DIN case. This case is exactly what I have been looking for!

I've finalized my CNC tooling to cut .063 damn near perfect, no burs at all, just a shiny aluminum edge. I would not be surprised to see the prototype this week. .

I would imagine you use the brackets that are holding your radio in the car at the moment. Take the brackets off the radio and put them on the double din chassis

Look closely at the renders you will see the fully adjustable side brackets. They will be able to handle depth and angle adjustment. You can also, as NiSlo stated, use the OEM brackets to mount the chassis.

Also as an option in the future you could tap holes in the sides to match up with aftermarket radio bolt holes. This way people could use the stock radio brackets for a perfect first time match. no?
I know in my Toyota a "universal" bracket like you have shown will not work because the mounting points in the car are off set, I may be able to get one screw in on each side but that to me is not an option for something that needs to be stable.

Otherwise, I love the idea! I am working with the body of an old deck I have for this sole purpose!

by the way, how deep is this thing front to back?

I especially like the fact that you can remove the L-brackets on the side

I know it's been a while since this thread has been active, but I'll post anyway. I might be building a double-din chassis for my 07 Camry. I've pulled the stock headunit and I've seen the frame behind there: it's double-din. It's only the two side frames with mount holes, etc. So I need to fabricate something with the top and bottom frame as well. I plan on fitting my mini-ITX inside the frame and putting the LCD in front of it as well. It will basically be a complete system in the dash (apart from audio amplifier).

I plan on building it from aluminium due to its thermal properties. I'll be designing it to fit in my car, so it may not be completely generic, but if there is demand and if I have the time/resources, I might try mass producing a generic version. Any takers?

I'll post here with any updates/progress.
