Lexus LS400 monitor position solved.... kinda long, sorry!

After weeks of personal debate, I think I've finally found the best spot for my touchscreen. I'll probably fabricate or have fabricated a bezel to attach to the console at desired angle (maybe even removeable for security).

I'm going to keep the Nakamichi HU and integrate it with the new carputer. I've been back and forth on replacing HU, but the Nakamichi is 280 watts of sweet and crystal clear sound at any level with 7 speaker system incluidng sub, I can't disrespect it like that! Plus it's a close to OEM look and keeping FM at optinal sound quality. I'll have to tap into the factory CD changer to create an Aux output for the PC, but that's been covered on all the Lexus forums. Although the procedure is for hooking up an iPod, I'm sure it's the same concept.

So in short the HU always stays on CD (for PC audio), unless I want to listen to FM I just hit "FM". Well that's my theory at least, I hope it's going to be that simple.

Well I've got a lot of homework to do on this forum before I even attempt a build. So you all should be hearing a lot from me. And please don't flame the 'noob' too bad!

Sorry for rambling, but I'm getting pumped! So what do you all think so far?

Here is a quick photoshop of just the screen in place. Like mentioned, I'll probably have bezel fabricated on top of the console and have it look molded from stereo on down and maybe even removeable.

At least at this angle, it looks like there may be a lot of reflection there, but maybe not from the drivers seat. I bet you will have plenty of room behind it as well. Good luck with the install. Check the viewing angle of the monitor before you install.

I'll definitely be checking the angles to see what gives me the best results. I may even put a little lip on the top to help with glare if it still looks presentable.

as good as the deck is, you may think about relocating the deck. With a screen that low down, it's hard to see and even dangerous to change a track while driving. Also it's close to the gear lever which is annoying cause once in park it could be obstructed or you could hit it while shifting out of park. If you want to keep the deck, maybe you could install it else where in the car and leave that space for the screen. That would be the most OEM look. Just things to think about.

You may be right, I just don't know where in the heck I could put the deck and still have convenient access to it. This sucks, just when I thought I found the perfect spot for the monitor!
