I'd start by moving your HVAC controls and the pocket below it to another location. When you're driving, the shift lever will be well out of the way. If in fact that dash opening is wide enough, then i'd go ahead and angle the screen back in there and adjust it to what looks right to you while you're in the drivers seat. Once you've got it in place, then make the PERFECT bezel or the NOT AS PERFECT AS THE PERFECT BEZEL BUT PERFECT IN A DIFFERENT SORT OF WAY THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR SOME PEOPLE bezel.

what he said up there. theres a lot of potential in that dash of yours for relocating stuffs. personally id move the hvac down but snip the 3 little buttons to the side or somewhere else so i can "squeeze" in more space. then follow with the radio and finally the lcd on top. if your worried about the sunlightand glare you can make the enclosure recessed as in here How-To: Recessed Screen and DVD Drive

First I would get rid of the pocket. Then I would put the radio where the pocket is. Then the 3 knobs and 3 small buttons should fit on the horizontal surface where the shifter is, or maybe up top somewhere, but basically elsewhere.

Then the screen would go up top. I think the shifter would get sorta annoying but that could just be the way I tap my screen. That and looking so far down could be sub-optimal when flying down the interstate.

Personally, get rid of pocket, move both the hvac and radio down one position, so the radio is where the hvac was, and the hvac is where the pocket was, then put the screen where the radio was...

A little extra work, but It'll be worth it in that your screen will be higher up, making it use able, and viewable as your are driving...

Nothing is worse then having to look straight down when driving...

Or, the HVAC controls would go nicely in those pockets along the shifter.

@Dennis - The screen wouldn't fit. He'd need the HU area + the pocket, leaving the HVAC w/ no home./

I'm not very good with photoshop but after measuring this is what I've come up with so far(if someone is better with photoshop and wants to help me out I would appreciate it
Let me know what you think - I want to put the HVAC controls infront of the shifter, move the radio down, get rid of the cubby hole, and put the LCD as high as possible for the backseat passengers.
I also have a sirius satellite radio that is mounted above the info lcd right now that I may incorporate into this as well - not sure - it measures 5"x2".
I am going to purchase the block of insulation to get my mold for this thing this weekend hopefully. Then the fun begins

something tells me those HVAC controls are going to have to go somewhere else....

I'm assuming they're all electronic, i.e. no cable pulls. If that's the case, have you considered looking at different types of switches/knobs you can use to make the relocation work a little better? If you find a switch with the right values or can build one, then it's really just a matter of extending wires... that should give you more flexibility in placement.

Dude, having driven that car for a while and owning an 8" screen, off the top of my head, I'd say you might not even fit the two things there, let alone all three.

I am pretty good at photoshop, but I hacked that together thinking what is the point of making look really nice. I think your quick and easy photoshop gets the point across fine, I just don't think it will fit

Forget about keeping the stock radio. I'd hate to say it but it's honesly the only option you have without tons of fab work.

Run the computer straight to a 2ch amp, and run the amp to your speakers. You'll have all the room you need.
