I have the same revision as the betas available. I have been trying to contact mp3car about it, but havent really heard back. Not sure what is going on there. One beta tester found that it was easy to pull the USB port off of the board with a certain cable. I have swung the thing around my head by the cable (a formal test ). So I am looking at what I can do. I am thinking a back plate of some kind.

They will be $27.50-ish. If you want one just like the betas, you can order one today through me directly. If you want one through the mp3car store it will be ~2 weeks after they get back to me.

I've added an acrylic base and top that sandwiches the USB connector. Someone was pulling them off the board! This should fix that.

They are removable if you do not want them, or if you want to put in longer screws to bolt it into something else.

Got the knob today, hooked it up, the volume worked right away, I had to download the drivers and configuration software from a post a few pages back. Now I'm also able to change color.....Cool.

No, it was really easy after I got the .rar that was posted a few pages back. The volume part worked right away on my Win7 64Bit install, but it said something about missing drivers. I installed from the .rar, then that went away and I was able to change the color. It was nice that you included the cable.

Although it might be a little weird mounting it. I can use the 4 holes in the board, but most pots and things that look like pots have a threaded shaft with a nut and washers.

Now I just need a knob.

Nasa's knob's are really nice looking, the LED glows great.

This isn't a pot, it is an encoder. It makes pretty precise timing measurements between two encoder disks within the shaft. These outputs are pulsed and I measure the pulse essentially. So mounting by the shaft could introduce errors and and would be bad for the internal mechanics.

There was no reaction of any kind to my plugging it in by my computer. Usually when you plug in a USB device there is some indication my my desktop, even if it is only a little note that plays.

I turned and pushed the knob shaft. No volume control settings changed.

I ran the program that I believe is supposed to change the light color. It didn't do anything (read or write).

What am I doing wrong here?

If you see nothing under the device manager change, then try a different USB cable/port. I know they all work because I program them all individually via USB before I package them. You will see a device pop up in Device manager, actually 2 devices. If it is a 64bit system, the first time on a port may take 20 seconds or so to start functioning, but it will be detected right away.
