I've been exchanging emails with 2k1Toaster, but just so everyone else knows the volume knob is working great, including changing the led colour:

sweet. That picture brings three questions to mind.

    1. Is it possible to turn that blue led off?
    2. When will mp3car have stock. I'd like to do a blog spotlight for it.
    3. When's the SpaceNavigator/I-Drive super pro version of the control coming out

There's no way to turn off the blue led via the software. I don't think you'd see it once it's mounted.

    A question from me:
Anyone know a good source for suitable knobs in the uk?

I apologize for not getting back to you. The volume knob arrived and looks very nice and well built. The feel of the knob detects is quite nice.

I was hoping it would be panel mounted using a nut onto the body of the knob itself, would be much easier to mount than four holes in the pcb that are set back from where the volume knob will sit against the panel it mounts to. Unless you had something specific in mind for the mounting it looks like it may be tricky with what I had in mind.

Unfortunately I do not have it mounted yet as after it had shipped I got another email that my display ship date was pushed back again to end of July. I want to mount this near to the screen so I need to wait for my screen before I can mount this.

Sorry for the delay I hope to have this up and going soon. I wasn't expecting another delay in getting my screen. It has been months since I ordered it.

This would be a major fail, now I know why when I asked about shaft mounting back in post #73 it wasn't answered. Back to the design board.

So has anyone found a good knob to work with this? I've been looking around and came up with some options (none make me really happy):

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-x-6MM-Avia...item3cc8da4337

(not sure on size of this one) http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-162367.../dp/B0012P4KH6

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Pcs-Plasti...item3a772800b8

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Pcs-Plasti...item3f195632a3

None of these would show off the nice pretty light Anyone seen any better options?

The best one I have found to fit a OEM looking install is this one here but I don't know what size and type of shaft it takes and it also won't illumiate. Also $10 seems a bit pricy for a piece of plastic

    Ok,

I order some very promising knobs (I hope) -- slow boat from China, however. After much research, I found that this takes a "D Shaft" 6mm size knob and this is what I found:

    Let's hope they work!

(they do look cheezey... but what do you expect at 44 cents a piece)
