Detect Collision / Accident?
I'm building out my CarPC now, and one thing I'd really like to integrate is a collision/accident detection system. I'd like to have two modes - One would be used while the car is parked and the other while the car is in motion.
I see that the Fusion Brain has a 3-axis accelerometer, and I can get the same thing for Arduino. Do these actually work at detecting collisions? Do you have to run the sensor at a high frequency, and pick out the spikes - or is there some other detection hardware/software? A lot of car alarms have a "shock sensor", but I can't seem to find anyone who has connected one to an Arduino or Fusion Brain.
