Any alternatives to a $190 Photoshop suite that anyone has had success using for transparency? Why would MDX not recognize another softwares .png?

Thanks for your help, I PM'd image. In that attempt all I did was paint over the "C (degrees)".
Works fine for me.
All I did was open the configurator, load the gtr example skin, go to edit graphics, double right click the oil temp static image, loaded the image you provided, saved it to mdx's directory, and ran mdx. Worked perfectly. No changes made.

I can load the testmdx.png image you posted back as well. I assume you opened it with Photoshop when you renamed the file?

Also note post #4. The file you sent me was "*.PNG". When I saved as, I manually typed in "*.png".
Try changing your extension. Always use lowercase extensions, programs that make uppercase extensions are evil...
