I had a half donut in 5 deg increments on that skin I posted somehere around here. I can do a 360 one.I didn't want to go too far, I wanted feedback for possible changes first. It won't take much to go all out once it's what you want. I can do any resultion you'd need, the framework for building it is still ready.

Are we still talking about a mulitimage? If so, 180 or 360? or like a speedometer where it is not quite 360?

where should 0 be if not just a 180 design?

    what steps? 1 degree?

I still like the idea of using a full ring and redrawing it based on a low angle and the current angle (up to a max angle); which along with the square image borders, define two shapes to draw, one from the donut's image overlayed on background, and one from the background. But I was never able to make it work.

EDIT: but with the overlapping issues, for now keeping images as small as possible (less transparent area) is probably better. On second thought they'd be the same size...

1 degree steps of 360 means you can make a dial in any position angle on the screen by specifying only like 160 or 200 degrees of any subarc, so it would be the most flexible which I think would be best for everyone.

Out of curiosity, how did you do it? Im guessing 2007's 3d objects?

ok, well first I copy-rotated a line in the required increments, and then made a donut and centered it on the lines' rotation point. I made the donut from half donut shape and expanded it all of the way around.
Here comes the fun part that took some thinking:
The gradient, when applied to the shape, looks fine as long as the image is full 360 and all of the way down to 270, but any smaller and then the gradient auto centers (PS and AI did this too) which made the gradient not look right. So what I did was use PPT to make the shape's color the same as background, and then applied the gradient scheme I wanted to the background . I then slid in a black square to seperate the image from background (to see it) and then I used the lines as guides to create each step, then, right click the shape and 'save as image'.

It seems like a lot, but it goes pretty quick.

White? Once I have the ppt with all 360 slides, I can change the background once to make all images' color or gradient different But I still have to save each image individually, but then batch resizing is easy enough.

Sorry to keep posting, but I just remembered, 360 pictures still needs an anchor point, that is zero. in order for zero to be able to be moved, there would have to be 360^2 images available.

    ???

to get full rotation, you need an infinite amount of images. But 360 will work fine. I didnt know you had to do them each individually. Photoshop is nice at batch processing, so I will try to make it. It is just getting the gradient that is proving tough. If you could make a gradient, of transparent, to black fade, then transparent in the middle donut, that would allow the best freedom. Then save as a huge *.png, and I will let photoshop do its magic splicing and dicing. If it has a transparent-->black fade in it, then colours would be easy as you just put a new colour in the backround while keeping the middle transparent completely.
