Thread: Sample VB application to control a Fusion Brain

Update was ~5 minutes before I posted the last message. Just check the version on the Form - I use the date as the version. If it's today's date, you have today's code.

2k1toaster and I have been discussing the send/receive stuff in the Disconnect sub. It shouldn't be necessary to Receive data there, but it's the only way I can get it to disconnect and reconnect nicely. Can you try remarking out the recieve if/then in the disconnect Sub to see if it will allow you to reconnect after you disconnect?

ok.. when i comment then if/then statement the FB will not reconnect. the only way i can re-establish a connection is if i close the program AND disconnect/reconnect usb. Now with the if/then uncommented it connects/disconnects/reconnects as it should.

If you know how to make a COM object I would be forever greatful!

It just isnt working for me.

And I have not updated the source in a long time. I will package it all together and post it for you. That USB communication however has not changed at all.

i know how to do it in vb6.. does that help? lol Quite frankily i dont even know what program you use to open a C# source package... but i'm pretty good at learning on the fly!

In all honesty though i'm hoping the rr plugin i'm making will satisfy all users using rr and wanting to implement the FB into it. As i stated earlier (or maybe in another thread), it will have the ability to control all digital outputs, as well as display raw data in the form of labels and variables and also parse the data for items like the temp and photo sensors. I think a com object would definitely add to the popularity of the FB.. but least this plugin will get the RR vultures off your back for awhile lol

seriously, my solution was 8 lines long, converted to binary, used all 16 bits, and converted back to a long =D

But on a serious note; do you have a layout of the output (64b) from the Fusin Brain? IE, what each byte/bit means? I see that you have bytes 12-36 in use... what are the other 40 or so bytes used for? Also, where does it hide the digital inputs?

My FBs have been backordered for 2 weeks, so my real-world dev time has been pushed back a bit =D I'm going to be running 2 FB's in my prelude, with a custom program.

I'm also working in VB2k8, so this app really saved me alot of dev time =)

and i is from 0 to 10 correct? That is a nice line of code indeed. May just use that in the main program. I was too busy to figure it out, so I used strings

"i" is 0 to 11 for the 12 inputs.

As for other bytes, there really is nothing else of value in the byte array. There is one byte that has the 4 digital inputs, but since the digital inputs are going away in the next version, I decided not to use them at all. Just act like they aren't there.

There is a word document around somewhere that lists the specs of the byte arrays. I don't know what the URL is to it, maybe 2K1 has it posted somewhere.
