when did you download your installer? as of monday noonish there is a new one available.

the other one you need directx dlls in the folder for it to start.

fire up a virtual brain and see what happens. do you have ajumper on your brain? do you know about the pin mismatch on v3?

i am phone only this week, and on vacation, so responses will be slow

If I start the program and run FindMyDevice(0, 4), it returns false just like it should.
I then run FindMyDevice(0, 3), and it returns true, because it found the v3 FB that is connected.
If I then disconnect, and try to connect to a v4 again, this time FindMyDevice(0, 4) will return true, even though no brain is connected. At this point, it thinks it has connected to a brain that doesn't exist. I can then disconnect and try to connect to a v4 FB again, and it will now have figured out that there isn't one, so it will return false.
i will look into when i get back

    A well deserved vacation!

I do indeed have a jumper and know about the output pin to LED mismatch, but don't know/can't find what the jumper is for.

I downloaded again and reinstalled after uninstalling today (Jan 7th) and recieved a "Installation failed" error, though right after this the COM was registered. In using the Configurator to change the version to 3 (which didn't want to save, for some reason, I checked with Notepad afterward and had to change it manually, then ran, same error, then came back to Configurator) and used the Identify Brain command, the blinking did work, but attempting to close that window (red x, didn't see a button) resulted in Windows telling me that Configurator encountered an error. I tried to run Configurator in debug mode and do the same thing, but I guess it doesn't have that mode?

2k, can I also get you to sign the FusionBrain_WinUSB.dll. One of my apps is signed, and when that option is checked, it nags that the dll doesn't have a strong name. Thanks.

I have never done that or know how. is it costly like driver signing? I will try when I get back, but honestly have no idea what to expect to do this.

No, it's pretty painless and doesn't cost anything. I did it with another dll a couple weeks ago. It's just a checkbox in the project somewhere - I'll look it up.

Have a good time on vacation, we can deal with little stuff like this when you're back. I'm just not signing my app for now, which is fine since I'm just doing more development and testing on it.

2k, to give your DLL a strong name, here's what I think you will need to do.

Go into "My Project", to the "Signing" tab. Click the "Sign this assembly" checkbox, and it will want a key file. You can select new from the drop down list. The options in their are pretty straight forward. Save changes, build the application.

As I understand it, in order for an application to be signed, all DLLs it uses need to be signed. However, an application that isn't signed can use signed or unsigned DLLs.

The only reason I started signing the app was because I was running into rights issues on one box, and a Microsoft MVP said that the .Net framework will give signed programs a higher trust level, possibly resolving the error I was getting. I ended up wiping the box, but I figured it was good practice to sign apps.

In VS2008, its Project Properties instead of My Project but all of the other steps are the same.
    Thanks,

When I want to disconnect, I quit sending data and then run this line:

Dim closeresult As Boolean = FusionBrain_WinUSB.MainUSBClass.Zombie
