need some help with data logging

I'm having some trouble with setting up the data logging feature. Im trying to record the data from two analog inputs into an excel file. I have data logging turned on but I dont know where or if it is being recorded. Is a data file automatically created and I just cant find it or do I need to create an excel file and then it will be opened and data recorded? I haven't been able to find any tutorials so any help with setting this up will be appreciated.

How did you do it? I went into the logging part and added a log file instance and I think I configured it correctly, but I never see a log file.

I switched from the input timer to the gui timer and it started working perfectly.

Thanks! That worked perfectly. That was driving me nuts.

    Edit:

This is great. I hooked two temp sensors up. I have an Excel spreadsheet which is attached to the xml files for the sensors. I have a pretty graph that shows both temp sensors compared to the time. This is really cool.

    Edit:

Another update. Using Excel 2007 I was able to save my spreadsheet as a html page which kicks but, but I can only get it to show me all of my data. To sort it by day, for example, I would need to manually copy data to another column and make a new graph. What I want to do is be able to chose various ways of displaying all of the data I've collected (highs, lows, today, yesterday, last week, ect).

Excel 2003 lets you create interactive web sites which let you play around with the filters which does this in a way, but in 2003 the web public piece doesn't show the graphs which is a bummer.

Anyone have any good ideas for displaying all of this information easily? I'm no programmer...

Can someone please explain the different timer options and when one would want to choose one vs. the other when logging?

Also, how did you guys setup Excel for doing the graphs?

I'm having heat issues with my amps cutting out due to getting too hot and I want to use the FB to log the temps at which they cut out and how often it gets close to those temps.
