Hi There,
FD is great - unlike most other apps I've tried, this worked first time. However, I have got a couple of problems:
1) I installed FD v0.80 which worked first time, but got a run time error (9 - subscript out of range) when selecting the DefaultTouch skin. I downloaded v0.85 Freedrive.exe file and overwrote the v0.80 file but this still doesn't work. If I then restart FD, I end up with a screen with a grey border and no UI. Is this a known bug?
2) On a recent test drive I noticed that the speed indicator was consistently 5-6mph lower than the actual speed. Is there a facility to compensate the GPS derived speed - this will obviously be important for the speed camera notifications! I appreciate this is not a problem with FD but it would be a useful feature.
3) I recently purchased what I believed to be the latest edition of D3 - unfortunatley it turned out to be Q2 2003 rather than the Q4 2004 maps that I was expecting. Is there any source for obtaining maps on their own - even just the UK maps would be a good start.
4) I assume that once I obtain and update the maps to the latest version I will start to get more meaningful instructions at roundabouts? At the moment the instructions I get do not tell me which exit to take.
Keep up the great work - I've been following these forums for a long time and have always been impressed by the wealth of information available.
Many thanks,
Paul.

I was travelling at (what my speedo indicated was) 75mph past a speed camera - FreeDrive reported 81mph and rightly alerted me to the 70mph limit. Had I actually been travelling at 81mph, the camera (which I know is active) should have triggered. I was travelling at a constant rate on a flat road. It does seem odd - this would indicate that my car speedometer is reporting a slower speed than the genuine speed. Given the 6mph difference, I would expect to trigger speed cameras regularly - as such I am more convinced that it is the calculations performed by FreeDrive/Destinator or a problem with the GPS device itself. I will try another product to see if that gives similar speed differences.Originally Posted by Enforcer
Thanks

Strange, I find that the GPS is always lower than my speedo by about 2-3 miles per hour.
speedos in peoples cars are 10% out..
30mph on speed = 27mph
40mph = 36mph
70 = 63mph
my gps and speedo are on-par with the speed displayed on the radar-operated "your speed is" displays.. but on every other car i've had until now the speedometer showed ~5 mph faster than I was actually travelling.
