  • Usb/audio interface for bmw & valentine2pc interfaces

    Hi,

I have two usb/audio interfaces for HeadUnit2CarPC integration for BMW vehicles*:

They were purchased from indashpc.org back in 2005 and are new, and unopened with all installing supplies(t-clips). I found them in a box of components and remnants from my disappointing CAR-PC venture. These now cost 70$, though the new version has a prettier box the guts and functionality are pretty much the same. The same driver and plugins are used.

The price is 40 bucks each or 60 bucks both, plus 10 bucks for shipping.

I also have several (+15) serial interfaces to integrate the Valentine One radar detector with your CarPC so it can display onscreen radar alerts, using Mr. Jimbonzz software one free application. The software displays all the information from the V1: Number of radar sources detected, type/band, strength, location, operating mode...etc... the GUI is customizable and you can even switch modes pressing the onscreen mode/mute button.

The V1 serial interface has been tested with a serial2usb adapter and it works, though there are some issues such as connection loss while resuming from hibernation/suspension.

The price is the same, 40 bucks/unit, heavy discounts apply to multiple orders. Shipping is also 10$.

Should any of you be interested in any of the boxes, write to: mattlocked(at)gmail dot com

    Thanks.

    Matt.

I don't have an open serial port, but was wondering if it works with ZPilot's V1VD software. I understand the hibernaton issue and don't mind.

I want a V1 serial interface device. --Does this turn off the display on the V1 once you connect it? That would be ideal, since in VA radar detectors are not exactly legal. Anyways, please let me know how I can get one... Thanks.

            Hi everyone,

            I think I replied everyone's PM's earlier. Anyways,

The BMW audio/usb interface is for use with the original BMW headunit, in fact the point of this device is being able to keep it and take advantage of the steering wheel built-in controls with your CarPC.

I don't think the v1 box will work with zpilott's software, his interface is based on a different design. I must say I haven't tried his software myself but I guess it will be a no-no.

Andrew, once you connect the interface to the "acc" port of the V1 the lights of the V1 remain switched off, all warnings are diverted to the accesory (be it a concealed display or the CarPC interface, which emulates a concealed display for all that matters).

I hope all questions are properly replied.

            Thanks for your interest.

            Matt.
