                          the messed up part is i think i fried my 200GB WD drive the other night in an external closure. i didn't power up the drive before hooking it up to the puter for some stupid reason. now it takes a few tries to get it to spin up :-(

                          is this drive sold?

                            That should've fried the computer. You are saying that you hooked up the USB or firewire befire plugging in the drive?
