• Car MP3 System for sale. AWESOME!!!!! Best Offer

Unfortunaly, I have to sell my MP3 system I put my sweat and blood into during the entire summer. This is a great system that can be easily expanded into anything you want (CD-MP3, DVD, full screen LCD, GPS, etc). Basicly its an upgraded Websurfer Pro (www.linux-hacker.net) with all the necessary cables included to get the thing into your car. The specs on the Websurfer are as follows:

Cyrix MediaGX 266MHz CPU
48MB RAM (Expandable to 512MB)
UltraDMA 33 controller/IO interface card
Monitor out
Composite video out
S-Video out
RCA audio outputs (for interfacing with an RF unit or aux. input on your stereo reciever)
2 USB ports
Printer port
Internal socket for DiskOnChip (I will explain in a moment)

The system comes with a custom built external IDE hard drive bay, 3 hard drives (capacities between 1.2-1.6GB each), Portawattz 300W power inverter, custom made Handspring Visor serial cable, 8 gauge power cable, 16MB DiskOnChip (unformatted), 56kps modem (was included with Websurfer), wireless keyboard with mouse, and 20 foot audio RCAs. As stated in the title, I'm looking for offers on the system. If you have any questions or want to see any pictures of the player, feel free to contact me at [email protected]

I forgot to talk about the DiskOnChip or DOC. The DOC is a 16MB memory drive. It can be formatted just like a hard drive can and will not be erased when the computer is turned off. The advantages of it are that you can put your operating system on the chip. Not only will you have more room on your hard drive, you will also have faster load times due to the operating system being on the chip instead of a slow mechanical hard drive. You can obtain DOC in sizes of 4MB up to 256MB.

IIRC it came with the system just like the Iopener but you may want to look at something like this
most of the ones I have seen are made by sandisk and will just attach to the IDE port they tend to be a little on the expensive ($100 for 32 megs) side but sound real nice for something like this.

The chip came with the Websurfer. The companay used it to store their operating system software used to connect to the internet. You can only use the DOC with systems that have the DOC socket on the motherboard. Like moxnix said, the chips are expensive and can only be ordered directly from the manufacturer. I never got around to installing an operating system on the DOC but I do have a stripped down copy of Windows 95 (only 16MB!!) that I will include with the Websurfer. Winamp is also included in the install along with USB ethernet drivers for connecting to a network. Like I said before, make me a good offer and the system is yours.

Now we all just have to wait for solid state hard drives to become affordable. Give it a couple years! ...drool...
