  • 3Com Audrey Internet Appliance for $89 at TigerDirect

I saw this on slickdeals.net this morning.
    http://www.slickdeals.net/#p1831
    640x480 7.8" screen
    Touchscreen (no mouse)
    IR keyboard
    2 USB
    Serial
Modem (used for internet access, if you don't have broadband)

It's a geek toy that can be useful when hacked. A USB Ethernet adapter (listed in the product description) is needed if you want to connect to your home network. They can be used as an email/web station, mp3 player, digital picture frame or palm sync station.

I was thinking of mounting one of these in the kitchen and one in my bedroom and using them as dumb terminals to connect to a Win2K server using Windows Terminal Services. Anybody tried that? It's pretty sweet!

Then all the Storage and processing would be on the server and the mp3 sound shouold come out just fine on the Audrey Terminal. Plus I would only have to install software on one computer!

      sounds good,
But dont expect the audio output quality to be any good. Your prob going to need a usb sound card like the i-openers.

A USB sound adapter will depend heavily on the already weak CPU.
