  • Looking to Hire (Bay Area)

Not sure if this post is directed to a moderator or the mp3car audience in general as I am not sure if this post is acceptable. I did read the rules and I don't THINK I am breaking any of them as of yet. If I can not advertise to hire people, please send me a PM and let me know. My company does manufacture automotive PCs with LCDs/touchsceen displays. We typically sell our systems to the emergency vehicle market, not the general public. Of the 24,000 systems shipped every one has gone to a government or military agency. My point is that I am not trying to advertise my product on mp3car.com.

What I am trying to do is spread the word that I am looking for technical people to hire. I need repair/engineering techs as well as installers/project managers. We are a small company (80 people) so some of these jobs overlap. Everyone here (at my company) has more than one task to complete, but I am always looking for good help and finding someone that is interested in the product would be a major benefit.

You can see my product on a recent post I put up of one of my systems installed into a Range Rover http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=84313 You can also read about my product/company at our website www.data911.com If you are interested in learning more about the job you can read about it on craigslist.com and/or send me a copy of your resume to [email protected] Please be aware that the starting salary is based on experience and this add is for a full time permanent position at our home office in Alameda, Ca. Thanks for reading.

Nope. It's not inappropriate at all. You're not the first.
I did, however, move the post to the Classified section, however.

Good luck with your personnel search.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
      How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Send your resume and salary desired, who knows? If you are going to request a high salary you better submit a strong resume...

I am looking to hire good people. If you have a background in the automotive business, experience in electronics and PCs, ability to manage people, the ability to represent our company in front of potential multimillion dollar clients, and help to sell units then speak up. I also need a serious local installer that likes working on automotive PCs, likes to travel and work on cars, and wants to work with a good bunch of people, so I am looking for you too. What we have been doing here for the last 10 years is redesign an automotive PC to bring to market. Every technical person in my company contributes to the design and specs of our future product as we redesign every 1-2 years. Keep the resumes coming please.

What is the location of the positions, and, you really should post a salary range. While I understand that it is commensurate with experience, assuming I have none, or am maxed out, what can I expect the range of income to be. Certainly you have a number above which you will not go.

Sorry, the first post states "full time permanent position at our home office in Alameda, Ca", I can't be much more clear than that.

There are a few different possible positions that I am talking about, we are a small company and we "wear many hats", so the wages vary. I have entry level bench techs working for me at $18 per hour and I would expect an experinced installer to get $25+ depending on the other things they bring to the table. Things like PC experience, mangement experience, project management experience, engineering experience, and training/education could/would increase the wage from there. Some of the things could also chage their title from installer to project manager, or engineer. I am not going to put a range to each one of these positions but if someone really wants to get into the business of design, manufacturing, and deploying automotive computers in vehicles then I feel confident that they will send me their resume so we can talk.

Didn't see it buried down there in the last sentance.

Thanks for clarifying the salary. Sounds very intrigueing.

if you ever get a feeling you should open up a branch in San Antonio, please let me know, I could bring some car audio, a whole lot of PC wrenching experience and a whole lot of both inside and outside sales experience to the table.

Huh, interesting. I'm currently employed as a Net/Sys Admin in Alameda and it might be interesting to do installs, but I'm pretty comfortable here. Maybe a weekend or per-project thing? Good luck in your employee search.
