  • Portland OR Meet, August 28th

I have been wanting to see everyone elses CarPC setups in the past, and being this is the summer, what better time to do it? I am planning on August 28th for the day to have the meet, in Portland (OR) or Vancouver (WA).

I'll think about a few easy-to-find places, but first off, does everyone like coffee and/or donuts? I was thinking perhaps a Starbucks or KK parking lot Or maybe at a easy-going restaurant such as Red Robins, where we can have a big group and make lots of noise (Our car club goes to RR all the time, never has a problem). There are KK's, Starbucks, and RR's right off the freeway, off the 5 and some other smaller freeways.

I'm thinking we should start the meet at about 1pm.

Please discuss, and my contact info is as follows:
    AIM: sigma2kx
    Email: [email protected]

When the time gets closer, and you are sure your going to be coming, PM me and I'll set you up with my cell number just in case you get lost on the way, but I think the GPS should solve that

I'm going to post this post at MP3 Car, NW Dubbin, VW Vortex, Bimmer Forums, Sport Compact Racing, and The 12 Volt.

The main thread to reply to if you want to come, is located at MP3 Car, right here

I should be up for it.....might even have the Escort going by then with the DFI setup Fridays and Saturdays are for racing, so if its more afternoon than evening I can probably make it. If you are thinking of Beaverton areas, the 24 hour Starbucks is always a good spot, and not far from there, the old Home Base building has a great parking lot that the Nissan Guys meet at and they dont seem to have any probems.

Yup, Fridays and Saturdays are for racing for me too Well, not right now, the Bimmer is in the shop I'm only going to run a few more times, being my car won't get much faster while its stock - And its going to be stock until I can afford a turbo, so for about a year/year and a half..

Yeah, I was thinking the Beaverton 24hr, my friends and I go there often, as does our car club. If you see a bunch of guys (And a few (Normally 1..2..Maybe..) girls) sitting around talking about VW's, and at least one person has a VW mechanics jacket on, thast us! NWDubbin!

Pssssh, Ford performance? Lies!! One of my friends has a 97 'Stang with a built 289, nice car.. Well, it will be in a year or so, the engine is half-built on his stand, the car is undergoing body repair. Will be nice, in the end. He has a RX7 for his daily driver right now..

My dilema now is wether to put the carputer in the stang, as a daily driver, or to put it in the Escort, which wont really need it for the mp3 part, but will help with the DFI setup I got. I want to shoot for the Escort, but I dont know if it will be ready in time for the meet. Got a lot of wiring and a few trips to Torque Freaks before it can be driven, and the carputer will be after that. Decisions Decisions.

DOH! Now I got the stang tore apart to do a cam, intake, headers, and to port the heads, and I still havent started doing the dfi on the Escort, so I may have to show up with just a battery and my carputer. I dont think I have time to fab the parts needed in time.

I was hoping to fab the lilliput into the "pod" that mounts above the rear view mirror on the Escort. It would keep the unit out of the sunlight, and the interior look stock unless you knew it was there. I may do the same for the Stang (tack on one from a Escort. I think I could get it to fit.) I am a nut and bolt guy, so the whole fiberglass and or bondo thing really doesnt sound like much fun to me I should just hire someone to do it for me!

Sooo I know its supposed to be today, but well not many people replyed, which is actually good, as I don't have my system in My car was in the shop an extra week, and last weekend I couldn't do the fiberglass (camping..) so the system is going to be started (Completed?) tomorrow. I'll keep you all posted on how it comes
