IF you mean about my car in general, well... I probably spend 18 bucks a week on fuel... change the oil (five quarts)/ filter every 3 months, and probably ahve to add one quart over the coarse of those three months..... uhh.... probably other junk I can't think of...

But if you mean for my mp3 player project.... well lemme think about that.

I bought a CIDCO Mailstation machine the other day, with intentions to use the display from it... that might not work out after all though.... $5.00

The current display I'm using (still in the early stages) is a 2linex 24 char Alphanumeric display, not backlit, controlled by an HD44780. I ripped that out of an old router..........$0.00

Most of the computer hardware I already happened to have... except the hard drive I bought a while back, it's been a while .... I think it was about ..........$15.00

Tha'ts about all I've bought for my project so far.

I have an account in which I put 40 a month into. This account is nominated as my Computer account, basically upgrades to home PC, car PC or my network at home comes from this.

any car onmly related changes come out my normal account. Next big thing, assuming MOT and BMW Service II don't kill me will be a new set of alloys 800 approx.

not to bash you, but are you in high school (or that general age bracket)... i mean, that blatant disregard for financial responsibilty sounds like you are new to the credit card thing...

remember... you actually have to have the money to pay the card off eventually. so that means you spend $2K one month, but the next 6 months are used to pay off that $2K rampage.

I did my first carputer on the cheap with an old laptop I had laying around into my old car. Spent bout $500 on computer parts total, $500 to paint it myself, and $500 on new rims. Took me about 2 years to get everything the way I wanted it, then about 1 month after I finished everything some dumb lady in a mini van backs into my car in a parking lot, 1 month after that the other side of my car gets hit while waiting in another parking lot, then 1 month after that I get hit yet again, in another parking lot. ALthough the car still worked just fine, or as well as an 88' with 180,000 miles on it could work, it was no longer made a suitable case for my carputer, so I went out a bought a new "case" for it. This one cost me $35,000 and so far I put another $1500 for just computer parts.

Some additional words of wisdom. Stay out of parking lots in southern virginia if you have flames on your car. Bad drivers are attracted to it like moths to light!

Wait...so how long have you had the car?

Are you asking how much we spend per month or the most in 1 month?

If you spend $2,000 on mods every months then if you had your car for 1 year you would have spent 12 x 2,000?

Well I spent $25,000 on my car last time...thats because I bought the whole car

You really dont want to know how much my car costs to maintain! Lets just say a small fighter jet is probably less expensive!

Electronics is not a per month things, it goes in bursts. My current computer project is probably around $1500, and the amateur radio project cost roughly the same. I am hoping to go a month without anything more than just fuel!

how much do u spent total to mod your car?
and what is the most money u spent in the shortest time to mod your car?

well me thinking with all the money we spent on gagets for our car...
won't it be better of just to buy a better cooler car?
but what fun doing that right?
                        well enjoy.....

True...but do you like the shape of the car with all the gadget thrown in? How about a stretched limo with a swimming pool?

Name me a car with carpc built in as standard

The car computer represents a tiny fraction of the cost of the vehicle, so buying a 'cooler' car isnt going to cut it. The whole point isnt to have the coolest car, because everyone's idea of that is different, some like sports cars, some like other types. The effort spent is the point, its the satisfaction of doing the project. I am wrestling with various power options now. The last thing I want is to have it all done, what would I do then

Its just like the hot chicks you mentioned, the chase is best part. Then again, thats probably my old age (38) because its been so long that I have chased hot chicks...
