  • Audio CD to MP3

As I'm in the process of transfering all my audio cd's to MP3's, I wanted to ask which software you guys and gals use to do this? And how long does it normally take to convert an entire CD to MP3?

Currently downloaded some freeware (CD Rider), but it appears to suffer from an occassional plop ... With CD Rider it takes about 30min for a 60-70min CD at 192bitrate on a 48x drive using the LAME encoder (is this the best?).

    Cheers,
    K.

The one I use is EasyCDDA Extractor. It doesn't have the best GUI but can rip *protected* CD's too. And very well I might add

I use Cdex, I rip to OGG and MP3. A standard CD (13 tracks) normally takes about 5 minutes. I have a 40x CDR drive and a AthlonXP 2600+ (2.13GHz) w/ 512Mb 533MHz RAM and a 7200 RPM drive. It fills out the ID3 tag for you by querying track info from freedb.org and it is free (as in beer).

You might as well rip them to .ape instead of .mp3.
