  • Anyone into modding the motor?

    Wondering how many gear heads we have here?

    It's my first passion...

    current project is a 1999 Dakota R/T P/U. Mods are as follows:

    Paxton Novi2000
    MSD BTM
    MSD 6AL
    PPH headers
    gutted cat
    Spintech with turn downs
    Mopar PCM
    Hotchkis
    2 x 52 x 55mm F&B Throttle Body
    FMS 24# injectors
    2bbl M1
    viper fan
    reworked factory fuel rails
    APS 2800 stall
    Cal-tracs
    50# aux injectors (paxton only provides 30#)

    Dyno:
    345 rwhp, 360 ft-lbs on a Mustang dyno

    Times:
    [email protected]; 2.0 60'

    That time was on a damp track with a stall that had not fully broken in....also, it was only the second run on the current set-up....with any luck....might hit a HIGH 12.....like a 12.999999999

    hehehe

    =]

    wondering if anyone else has any projects that involve going faster too

    Hmm, only chipped my volvo to 198 HP - it's a diesel

      I drive a saturn. I can't race

      On a saturn racing (tee hee hee) forum, there are guys who have spent $15,000 on turbos, nitrous, suspension upgrades, etc. to get a 15 second car. Thats in addition to the price of the car. If I'm gonna spend that kind of money, I think I'll just buy a used mustang GT.

        hey now - I have a very close friend of mine who use to race a Saturn....SC2??? in auto-x years ago. This was before there was much that you could buy out there for the Saturns. He made everything. Exhaust, intake, etc. His class was "Show Room Stock" meaning you couldn't change much on the car from the way it came from the dealer. It was more about the driver....and MAN is he a good driver! 9th at nationals in his class....I'll see if I can find something online about him.....but that was YEARS ago....

        some people say the same thing about just about any car out there....but hey, if you enjoy it that's all that matters, right?

          Im a gearhead myself.
          I just transplanted a Jspec 2.0L V6 in my other MX-3.

          I bought it as my project car, incidently, its where my carPC is going.

              Im gonna pull it back out. Im using mostly parts from an american 2.5L v6. Since the motor I have is high compression, im putting in a 2,5L with lower compression so I can put on my turbo and get more boost.

                        Ah yes. My mx3 knowledge is a bit rusty since i seldom visit the board anymore.

                        Anyways, I currently have a half turboed 01 nissan alty thats bein returned to stock so i can trade it in on a mazda 6 hatchback. Plan on transferring whatever turbo parts i can over to work with the new car.

                          Again, I'm glad to see another Duc owner on here.....I have my 750 Sport and my Boyfriend has a 750 Monster....we're both looking to upgrade..MV Agusta for me (yEAH!!!! right!!! like I can afford that!!!) and a S4r for Monte.....maybe once we graduate....heh

                            Both of my current cars are power adder cars.

                            My daily driver is a '88 Escort with a IHI turbo, Accel DFI fuel injection with wideband o2, and a Spec stage 3 clutch. It has a late model ported head and tubular intake and the 2.5" exhaust should be done early January. Just passed emmisions, took a few trips, but the guys were totally stumped how I could return 5 minutes later and have completely different results. I love it, the car is totally stock appearing and will leave a mildly modified 'stang on the highway. Traction is somewhat of an issue light to light

                            My '91 Mustang has a *true* Saleen body set with the year specific wing, and as of tonight an Aluminum headed 351w with a 9# Powerdyne supercharger. Has a Canton pan, blower grind cam, and roller rockers. The transmission is a AOD automatic with a 3200 stall non lockup convertor and a lentec valve body with pushbutton O/D. 3.73 gears but replacing with 3.27 soon as the drag radial class will be very traction limited. The engine made 425hp and 450ft/pds of torque on pump gas in the prior car that I pulled it out of and ran a best of 11.40 with no traction and a stock auto trans on drag radial.We are changing that car to a big block over the winter.

                              Does fixing all of the various places that the motor leaks qualify as modding the motor?

                              otherwise I've got a diesel swap/tranny swap in the background, probably never happen.
