Well heres the deal. Im get a old computer from a friend, and now another friends is buying it from me. Thing is their is a really stupid message box that comes up saying "THIS COMPUTER IS SUBJECT TO HANKBOOK RULES" before anything loads (including user select box) im running Windows 95, and got a projram to turn off all startup items, but it still shows up, how do I get rid of this messaege box. Thanks!

**Update: It does not do it in safe mode.... hmmm**

You could try formatting it and reinstalling the OS, and upgrade while you are at it 95 is so old.

Not sure if MSCONFIG works on 95, but you could try.

Otherwise search for that phrase in the registry

It's not a file, but a registry setting.
Search the registry for the text it's displaying (or a portion of it).
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

yeah dude, its a legal thing it probably came from a large company, because the enter username to begin or w/e message can be seen as an invite to login for someone who shouldnt.

theres a reg key for it but dont know what its called, as scouse said, do a seach for handbook or something.
