  • Battery Terminal

Hey guys I am trying to install my new OPtima Blue TOp in my car. I was just wondering...this is what is on my positive terminal:

Well where the wing nut is, that is where everything connect from my car. I was wondering if they sell an extension that will go over the bolt where the wingnut is. ANd just have like an extension so the bolt where the wingnut is on would come out more.

can you take out the bolt? if it were me id get another nut and cut another bold off. Know what i mean?

Id fill that bolt up with what you can, put on a nut then put on the bold you cut off and then the wing nut.

You could put a nut centered on the end of the bolt and put in another blot, but this aint too solid. Or drill out the bolt and put a longer one. Or even buy a connector that has a hole instead of a bolt.

can you use both ideas? use what you have now for the car stuff. Then put on another bold and nut for one of those?

If all that wont work then yeah, cut it off and drill it out.

You can cut the bolt a little shorter, get a high nut , than get a long bolt , well all together and be finished.

Im not looking to extend the bolt to make it longer. I need to extend the platform the bolt is on so the bolt can come off the battery more.

If this is the battery you are using couldn't you split the load between the 2 terminals on the positive side. They are a common connection inside the battery.

Secondly, if you are using this exact terminal then the bolt will come out from the bottom. There is a thin layer of lead holding the bolt in but the bolt can be easily pushed out and a longer one substituted. Be sure to check the clearance between the hood and the longer bolt. I have seen many cars have "stalling" problems and small fires due to wrong or too tall batteries grounding out on the hood.
