  • DVI interface: Are they compartible?

I got a question that I am unsure and I don't want to screw thing up.
    I know the different between DVI-D, DVI-A, DVI-I.
Alright, my TV 36" Sony CRT (KV-36XBR800 is the model) has a DVI input. Can I hook up the PC with DVI-I (nVidia chip) to it?
From the Sony manual, it said that the DVI port is NOT intended for PC hook up (STB only). WTF? Are they suppose to be compartible? Of course, you can't connect DVI-A and DVI-D together.
I know I can get a Video card with HDTV (component) output and hook up to the TV, but I prefer DVI hook up.

DVI-D is digital, DVI-A is analog, DVI-I is both.
The little cross of pins at one end of the DVI connector is RGB output (analog). DVI-D doesn't have this.
