  • AHH, HELP!!! SPARK IN COMPUTER

ok, this is a bummer, i spent all day building my box, it looks great...but as i heaped all the cords, card, and other stuff in the middle of my motherboard, and flip the pc on to test it....i smelled something of a burning nature, and the lan card and something else caused a spark. I turned the pc off, and have tried to salvage it, but when turned on, the processor seems to run, the fans run, but nothing shows on my monitor, it doesnt sound like it is starting up (it did 5 minutes before i fried it) any help???!?!?!??!?!?!

Well your Processor is probably fried after the spark along with the MOBO and all the Memory on the board i cant think of much you can salvage from it, but i do have some questions that might help pinpoint the anwser
how do you know the Processor seems to runif you are getting no video on your system? just because the fans are running does not mean the chip is fine,.
was the lan card completely pluged in?
were threre any loose wires in the box?

Try starting the system stripped! Remove sound cards, LAN/NIC cards, etc...

Also, if the mobo has built in video... and you still can't get video out afterwards, get a spare video card and put it in and see what happens. Also, try using different configerations of the memory. So if you have more than one stick, you could switch their places around.

does the computer seem to boot up (other than display)? does your hard drive process like its trying to start normally? If not then it is a)cpu, b)ram or c)video card. Replace each of these one at a time and see if anything is salvageable. Good luck.
