  • just got a garage tonight... did i overpay?

I'm renting out the garage next door (literally) for $150 a month for the first 6 months, and $175 thereafter. It's a two car garage, and i get one side of it, with a long driveway that fits twop more cars on my side... Did i overpay? I'm in westchester county. LMK. It's convenient, b/c it's literally next door, meaning once i get out of our yard it's like a 5 ft walk top the garge door... LMK what you guys think...

like in cheech and chong? but a two car garage?

          jk

is there enough room on your lot for a garage

nothing like a 2 car garage connected to your house.
          around $11,000 for a decent (addition)one.

so i guess you got a fair price.

hey but if you think about it...150 a month adding up for one spot of a garage..you can build a one car garage or maybe evan a 2 car garage for about a year or 2 renting money.

well.. i have to rent an extra parking spot for the gf's car in our condo's common garage and it's $85/month.

well, the good thing about him delaying is that you have another couple of months to shop around to see if you can find a better deal...

yeah... though it is literally like 5-10 ft away from our entrance... lol... i test fitted my car, and it fits. it even has shelves on the side. and wher ei live there's not too many garages, rather driveways... so i don't really know... It's worth t for me, b/c i can emty my apartment like 30%... all the stuff i need to store. dunno

It threw me off a little that he delayed it after we had a deal yesterday. but oh well... I was hoping to be able to work on my car. a garage is easier to heat up that my street...

yeah, except i rent the basement apartment from my landlord, and i don't think that the city would be happy with me putting a garage on the street... lol... if i'd have my own house, i'd do it in a heartbeat. but i don't yet... remember i'm 22...

wow, $150 sounds like alot for up there..... that's the going rate down here in the heart of the city where parking is way overcongested, but up there I wouldn't expect nearly as much..... I have 2 garages down here that I rent for my various projects, but 1 is $75 & the other is $100, the second wanted $150 but I said no way am I spending more than $100 for half of a shared garage.... I got it for $100......

I guess if it's next door & the guy holds firm then it's either take it or leave it.... if you can store some crap AND work on the car without hassles it may be worth it.....
