  • Audiophile test songs

I'm going to Cloney Audio in Dublin tomorrow to demo some speakers in the $750-1200 range, more than likely some B&W 6/7 series, etc.

Just want to get opinions on songs - for containing all manners of frequencies, dynamics, instruments etc. So far I have -

Type O Negative - Blood & Fire (Out of the Ashes mix)...the hammond organ makes or breaks it!
Filter + The Crystal Method - Trip Like I Do (all manners of frequencies)
Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody (from 4:00 on)
Fleetwood Mac - Tusk (from The Dance live DVD)
Queen - Bicycle Race (the starting vocals will show up anything wrong)

Just wanted to say that I used to install home theaters & fancy audio setups and the B&W speakers are very, very nice.

As far as songs go, can't give you specifics on those particular songs (not familiar with most of them), but just have a good variety of styles and a variety of songs that you are very familiar with and already listen to. At least for me that biggest thing is listening to a song I am very familiar with, that way I know what it sounds like in different environments and on different systems. Then you will notice a lot more differences in detail. Just from playing around with different high end gear in the shop I was suprised to play music I was familiar and have listened to for a long time, only to find that there were still small details (imaging, etc..) that I never noticed before.

What will you be running them off of at home?
