  • Cpu upgrade enable l2 cache on startup

I've slipped a p3 500 mhz processor into my old p2 compaq laptop. It runs fine and recognizes the p3 as exactly what it is. The problem I have is that the bios is not accessable (compaq has it locked out) and the on chip l2 cache is not recognized.
I can activate the l2 cache with a program called CPUMSR_0_90 and everything runs fine but must do so at every startup as the setting is not saved.
Is there a way to have this progam enable the l2 cache automatically on windows startup? Maybe a command line (I'm not knowledgable enough to write one though)?

Looking for a workaround, any ideas?

    Cheers

If you are running windose you can put the application in the startup folder.

Other more techie solutions are possible... that is just simpe and easy.

Yeah, I thought about that. But I think what I ned is to set parameters in a config file and then have cpumsr run during boot up. Probably have to be a regedit thing.

      Thanks anyways.
