  • mp3kitchen?

So I'm in the process of buying my first house/townhouse/condo... and i have it in my head that it would be awesome to have a kitchen computer to control a media system, maybe watch dvds or tv, internet access (for recipes and what not), centralized music controller, basic automation, etc... I bet i could use one of the car front ends paired up with a via epia board. I'd want this thing flushed mounted into the wall so i think i could use one of those headrest monitor mounting systems for easy implementation.

has this been done before? anyone have any links? open to brainstorming ideas too.

i've found these links that seem interesting:

I think another member on this board was making a kitchen PC with RoadRunner and a bunch of recipie's. I thought I for sure read about it somewhere on here.

Also that weird mac like PC with the printer in it too for the kitchen. Not flush with the wall though, and pricey.

I think this will make for a good project.

I thought of something like this about a year ago.
Use one of those waterproof roll-up keyboards

Yup, that's going to be the future. Everything is in the house is going to be connected to some kind of server. I've thought of starting my own 'smart home' business after I finish college. Hmm, I wonder if www.mp3home.com is taken .

I'm already planning on doing such I'm moving to something new next week and I'm looking to build a complete media-center that can be controlled anywhere.... That's going to be the starting phase of something that in the end has to be able to control anything in the house.... So everything's gonna be hooked up to the computer.....
Xenia & Isabelle, totally in love!

Yup, I'm sure you and I have similar idea's one where all this can go. The only smart home company I could find was located in the UK and they looked more focused on saving energy and money than actually controlling the house via a computer.

Maybe we can bounce idea's off each other sometime on AIM or something.
