  • Yet another Golf MKIV install...

    Hello All,

First off. Thank you to everyone on this board for their input (although I haven't asked many questions, I got the knowledge I needed since "searching" pretty much answers most questions someone may have).
Also a big thanks to the software developers (RR and the skinners)

I've done quite much research on CarPC's in MKIV's and really hated the idea of either relocating my HU or getting rid of it.
For the first draft I decided to do a motorized monitor.
I can already say that this will not be permanent since I'm not too happy with a motorized. But now at least I have something in the car and can work on a bracket I have in mind that will have the HU behind a 7" inch screen and the screen will just slightly slide down to access the HU (future plans).

    Anyways....
The monitor is some no name. I wanted one that doesn't have anything besides the monitor function (NO FM, no nothing).

I'm still awaiting for the rear view camera (all cables are conntected) and for the Nokia mic (also cables are done) so once I receive them, I'll just plug them in.

I'm running a laptop (Panasonic Toughbook CF-18) which is actually a Tablet PC so it runs on Windows XP Tablet Edition.

OK, here's a few pics... (nothing special but at least now the PC is connected).

    First the Car:
    It's a 2003 Golf TDI.

    The PC:

The alu came stock with my car (well, paid extra at the dealer but it was put on already when I bought the car).

The PC isn't all that great but it does the job for now.
It's a Pentium M ULV 900 MHz; 40gb HD; 512 Ram; Video and Sound integrated of course.
It handles RR without problems and also my GPS Maps without any delays or hanging up so I'll keep it for now.
In the future, I'd like to get something better but first I want to redo/replan the monitor.
