  • 2004 Trailblazer RR-DFX2

Check out my custom Chevy Trailblazer touchscreen that sits high on the dashboard like a screen ought to!

I took these at night so they are hard to see clearly. I'll get some more up soon. I'd still like to try and get a copy of the Trailblazer round logo if you find time to take a picture of it or something.

        Vents are completely functional

The vents are functional. I went to a junk yard and walked around for over an hour trying to find the smallest vents I could find. I ended up getting them out of a 1996 camaro. Actually, I had to get them from two different Camaros as there is a big one and small one on each car above the instrument cluster. I did not damage or alter anything on my Trailblazer to do this install. I cut a peice of plexiglass with 2 holes the size of the vents and mounted 2 peices of old flexible vacuum cleaner hose on it with bondo body filler. I then simply put a screw in the middle and mounted in the hole where the factory vents butted up against it. It was quick and simple to do. I left a small gap from the hose to the new vents to allow air flow to keep heat from building up from the 8.5" LCD touchscreen. The 8.5 screen is as big as will neatly fit into the recessed original vent housing hole. Putting a bigger screen is possible if you eliminate the vents altogether. I recommend not going any bigger because it will block your view. This one is about two inches above the top contour of the dash.

                          Nice!!!

I like this setup a lot and will probably do one similar. Any tips/suggestions you can think of would be greatly appreciated. Does this function well? Was it worth the hassle? BEST SETUP I HAVE SEEN YET FOR A BLAZER!

I have many compliments, but I have thought about redoing the overall shape of the thing. This is my first experience with fiberglass and basically just read the instructions on the can. If I decide to redo the shape, it would be to "bevel" the left and right sides to slope down to the existing contour of the dash. Keep in mind that I did not damage or alter anything on my Trailblazer. I can stick a philips head screwdriver into the bottom vent holes and remove two screws and remove the whole LCD touchscreen assembly in about 2 minutes. The compliments seem to be making me hold off changing the design. I have been working on getting my TREO 700W to work with Freefone and bluetooth. No real success yet. Thanks for looking!
