  • 2007 gt with carputer

hey thought i'd show off the project i did on my car. It's a 2007 mustang gt that i gutted the sucker 500 system out of and put in a kicker amp and carputer. the carputer is a via epia micro-itx mother board running at 1.2 ghz with a 120gb wd laptop hard drive and dvd burner. it has an opus smart power supply that has a pos, neg and ignition wire for soft shutdown/startup

The case i used was the opus solutions atx case only beciause it has expandability in case i want more pci spaces (it costed an arm and a leg -though)
    -
the monitor is a 7" xenarc ziptied to a metra kit

i gotta usb hub sitting in the console that is powered by a dc-ac converter so that hard drives will run properly.

the features i got on it right now are:

-gps, mp3's (tons), wifi, bleutooth phone control

the features i would like in the near future:

-hd radio which i am currently lookin at on mp3car.com
    -obdii

i have quite a few front ends on it as i have found that every front end has its short comings and positives. i have yet to have a chosen front end. at the moment i am using gnetcanada's digitdash

i also decided to piggy back a second car battery (optima) in my trunk. my stang battery was draining quickly and i found out the problem was that the power outlets would stay on and drain the battery. I made the power outlets switched by cutting the power wire on each outlet and then connected them together on spliced them to switched fuse #3 in the fuse box which also switches on my computer. now i have no drainage problems at all

here are some pics of the assembly installed

Been looking for a "perfect" case for my applications. They have it, but DAYUM! I see the arm and leg part. Might have to go that route though. The PCI slots are pretty important to me.
    My opinion is my own.

i got a friend with a 2003 350z keep me posted on your install so i can give him some advice. once he saw my install he wanted one in his car. we've already taken the car apart to put in an aftermarket head unit/speakers but the pita is prolly gonna be puttin in a screen in the factory compartment.

      later man

But now, I have so much extra "stuff" in and running out of my case, that I probably should look at a more stable solution.
