  • Control Centrafuse without touchscreen

    Hi all

I have read numerous people ask the same questions here on mp3car and those questions are:How to control Centrafuse without a touch screen?
    I have the asnwer...........
Just get yourself a phillips speechmike pro here : http://www.dictation.philips.com/index.php?id=1425
    here is a pic:

I use it in my carpc and it works great!!!
Built in mic as well for the Centrafuse voice commands...

It also fits into your hand very comfortably and it also has a trackball built in with left and right click and a "left click" function key at the bottom making selecting through the Centrafuse menus great!!!!!
    Hope you all enjoy!!!!

If it were wireless that would be awesome. With the cable though I think it will look weird. Also the color, it looks like something you would find somewhere in a hospital using when they have to call the nurse. If they made it wireless and black, then id be sold. What I use is Windows Media remote with built in mouse. Costs about $5.00 on Ebay.

PS: Moderator, this thread needs to be moved to general hardware discussion. Should not be in the Show Off Your Projects area!

Now that is PIMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is really cool. I wonder if six can be used at the same time with no cross talk. Also will the keyboard work with a KVMP switch.

I just realized.... thats my favorite store for keyboards. I bought my small white lightup keyboard from there.

Of course you would wonder about 6 in one vehicle with your setup. With the price at less than 50 i doubt it has channel options so you would most likely have issues with more than one at a time...

^^^^ That is very cool. But they're for different purposes, I think. The white remote you can use without looking, I think. You can't definitely say that about the latter.

The problem with the Philips unit is that it is white, IMO. I control Centrafuse mostly using a black Sony Remote in the steering column, here. I use the Dinovo mini for keyboard functions, but the fact that it doesn't have function keys is a bummer. In that respect that Rii mini is way better. I'm tempted.

I am intrigued by your sony controller, I have not read all the trhead yet but i will have to look into it more. I have a Dinovo also and i took it out of the car because I ended up disliking it in there, so I will use a small usb 2.5" keyboard which does not have the F keys either.

Well the otehr 50 dollar one, the one I bought can use 6 of them without cross talk. You have to sync them with the dongle and the bottom of the keyboard. If I could see the dongle for the black one, I can tell if its syncable.

Does it work good? The sony dongle? I was thinking of trying to get my hands on one.

Does it work good? It works great! You have to use CarPC JoyCon which basically makes the computer think it's a keyboard. Then you can wake the computer from hibernate, put it sleep, play/pause/media menu, etc. I had issues with Windows7, but they quickly updated the software, so it's all good.

Here some more info on the Sony X2s and the CarPC JoyCon.

The only limitations I see comes from CF itself: A LOT of important functions have no hotkey assigned whatsoever. When you compare it to RR it's a joke (I guess even that any and EVERY command available on RR can be made to work with a key combo, just define it on rrkey.ini or whatever). So for instance, there's no next/previous playlist, no playlist toggle, no source toggle, visualization control is limited, and the worse thing of all: YOU CAN'T CONTROL PLUGINS!!! (NAV, TRAFFIC, Hulu, Shoutcast, nothing, NADA). CF won't repass a key with a defined function it does not understand to a plugin that does. I did a request AGES ago, to nowt.

[email protected], I didnt know that. I havent used CF in a long time. When I use it its on my desktop PC :-\ . Ima ask if they are going to add more hotkey support.

They have something like this for most PPC type phones. I have no place to stick my phone, it sits in the center console under the door. Plus what happens if someone calls, dont you loose that ability until the phone call is done?
