  • 2007 Citroen Android Carputer Galaxy Tab 7" Full Android Experience

    Hello mp3car.com folks,

Here is my finished android carputer setup. It's running CM9 4.0.4 Android with GPS/3G/Wifi/Mic integrated to car roof (Hirschmann Antenna) and the results got better than I expected.

I recorded a 12 minutes video (in bad english) showing up. Hope it worth the time spent.

Comments and critics will be highly appreciated.

Your english is fine! You have a very nice setup there, that hirschmann antenna is working good for you I see. They make quality stuff, I use the iridium antenna's from them. My problem using android in car is the buttons to do stuff are too small for my fingers, especially when driving. Keep up the great work and thanks for the video. SNO

there is a delay because my audio server js a win7 pc with a2dp server that hibernates with ignition by a m2-atx

but the ignition was also hard connected to the earplug sensor on galaxy tab then tasker app senses the ignition and do whatever i put on the macro to run and its quite fast

in my first version running android 2.2 I had the hardware buttons transfered to big buttons on panel. with android 4, there is no more need for hardware buttons so I transfered and used as a panic button in case of kidnapping I press the button and the system silently sends a sms with my location to authorities

about the small buttons, there is a configuration you do that works in 2:1 ratio so it looks and feel fantastic

                      ciao aziodale,

                      grazie per il commenti!

it's quite simple actually, but it has to rely on the computer to do the interface I'll show you in a second as soon as I get down I'll record a video

well couldn't show the interface I programmed because I accidentally broke my usb wifi on the pc so i can't vnc to it.

Anyway the tablet is connected to the pc via Bluetooth 3.0 A2DP. Bluesoleil software installed on windows also supports AVRCP protocol wich is the same used by bluetooth earphones with next/previous buttons. Then, on this very pc I have powermate configured to be master volume and to activate hot keys, like crtl+shift+key. Then I installed robotask, wich is a advanced macro recorder on windows like many others and created a macro to press button on Bluesoleil wich through AVRCP send commands to tablet.

Sounds crazy but works every time for months without having to worry about. And well, it is a bunch of extremely simple computer interfaces

yep, but the pc is only a audio server (very good btw)

but I also dismantled for another customer a bluetooth earphone and hardwired to a knob just like this setup without a need for a computer.

I just leave my computer there because I couldn't find a better DSP and it doesn't bother me at all
