I started tinkering with car pc in 2002, my first attempt I had a Panasonic Toughbook monitor I got at a police auction , a mini Dell 1.9GHz with Win XP pro that I put behind my seat ( pretty fast for the time ) that I bought from a store that went out of business and connected it all thru my alpine cva-1006 video head unit. total cost for pc and monitor was $120 power inverter $75. The need to cut down the 60 second startup time and graphics made me upgrade two more times to what I have now. System has been up for 7 months no problems except my XM sat tuner died from heat, which got me out of my monthly subscription and Hd radio sounds a lot better

I like it. I like it a lot. 125watt cpu in a car is unheard of. I have that cpu in one of my gaming rigs. I just couldn't find a phenom2 x4 in a 45watt verison, so I had to run athlon2 x4 640e cpu. when I built my accord, I went with 7" because I wanted screen to fit behind bezel. your setup looks good and clean. please post some more pics of your build. also having a 5th gen accord, are you a member of or have you heard of cd5tuner.com ? http://www.cd5tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=7556 it's a great site to see how other people are modding out their 5th gen accords.

almost GAVE UP ON FINDING A MICRO TOWER THAT WOULD FIT IN THAT LOCATION, STARTIED DRAWING UP PLANS TO BUILD A TRANSPARENT BLUE PLEXIGLASS TOWER , THEN I FINALLY FOUND THE TOWER ONLINE. I CONNECTED WIRES TO THE START BUTTON OF THE PC AND RAN THE WIRES TO A SWITCH ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL. BOTH SWITCHES ARE FUNCTIONAL

wait a sec. is that a typo? agp? AGP?! A G P !?!? How do you have a phenom2 x4 965 cpu connected to an agp graphics card? what sort of trickery is this? what mobo are you running, man? my phenom2 x4 965 cpu is plugged into NVidia's last mobo offering with 8gb g.skill 2133mhz memory(xmp) and gtx 470. msi built nforce 980a sli. which is basicly a revamped 780a chipset with a 3rd onboard chipset, a gf200 chip to run all 3 pci-e x16 slots at x16 under sli. I have not seen agp since intel's 945 chipset or nforce 4 series. and I didn't know those boards supported am3+ cpu's. i'm actually not so knowledgeable about amd chipsets before the 785g that drives my carpc. in fact, my carpc was my first amd vision build.

Looks like you got a serious rig in your car. About as powerful as my home setup! I have the Phenom II X4 940 in mine, but I have water cooling because the fan got too loud. (125 W).

Your 10" screen is nice too, i'm just barely going to fit an 8" in mine. Do you have multi-point touch for windows 8?

would be nice to see pics of the actual carpc and the rest of the install.

I am curious about how it looks

OK, I see you have the tower mounted in the armrest space. Pretty clever spot too, doubles as vibration dampening.

Thought about water cooling , but I came across a DIY circuit you can build to control fans , tested it out on my home PC and it worked great . What it does is it varies the voltage going to the fans depending on the temp, my front fan pulls in and the rear fan pushes out the rear. Using that circuit and speed fan I tweaked the settings on the circuit where as on the hottest August Florida day my proc and graph and sata ssd don't get get close to being hot. 95 degree day and the fans are running maybe 3/4 speed at start , which I can tell by the brightness of the LED on the fans, takes about 5 mins and my A/C has the temp down and fans running at minimum speed

thanks , the PC was about a 6 month long project , most of the stereo equipment is 20 years old and still crankin .
