  • carpc Just to run 1 program / Vibrations bulletproof

Hello, I know carpc since 2 days ago. I have an Engine Managment System on my car that works with windows and get an 130mb progam.

I'm building a track days car and I want a keep the original car gauge, but I want a screen to see extra info.

I can see all the engine data via USB to the ecu, I was planning to buy a screen and connect the laptop but that looks a lot better.

My question is wich is the simpliest and cheaper carpc and where I can buy, it just have to run this program, but I want a touch screen for change pages.

The carpc have to resist a lot of vibrations (Racecar) and a bit heat.

That are the requisits of the program: Minimum System Requirements 1GHz processor; 128MB graphics card 3D; 250MB HDD space; Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7.

I've seen some stuff on Ebay but I don't know exact what to buy.

    Thanks a lot.

Hi and welcome to the forum! I would think the first thing would be the case. Your best bet for heavy duty and heat dissipation would be the voom2 http://store.mp3car.com/VoomPC_2_Car..._p/enc-008.htm Mainboard you could get any current atom mini-itx http://www.mo-co-so.com/Intel-D525MW...cs-int-525.htm that is fanless low heat low draw. SSD for sure especially with all the vibrations. Depending on which mainboard you choose you might get away with the M3 http://store.mp3car.com/M3_ATX_125_W...-xcv4-0ygm.htm power supply that would turn on/off with the ignition and power down properly as to not drain your battery. Hope this helps and are only my suggestions on a low cost solution for your application. There are many more options like getting an amd board, i3-7 board, used boards but I think I would at least have a dual-core atom of the newer generation. SNO

I currently have or have had a lot on that list...totally agree with SNO. Dual core atom and a ssd is surprisingly good for the money.boots quick enough low power fast enough for simple installs...if you plan on any HD video track recording step it up from the atom to somthing bigger....my i7 is amazing running nav, music, obd and HD video recording all at once..almost laughs at me!!....my atom was happy with everything minus the HD video.

Personally I would get a cheap atom netbook, they meet your hardware requirements, good with mobility, plus you get a screen and battery along with it, and extremely cost effective. way cheaper than building your standard mini-itx board. and you can take it out very easily if needed be.

You can also always hook it up to a second monitor to have touch screen if needed be. The netbook battery will comes in handy

Thanks a lot to all. I guess if i want make videos I get easy acces to one gopro i think is the more simple.

Looking that its for run one program, normally only for see the gauges, maybe one day change a litlle ecu setting. I think the best it's take some used parts or a notebook if it's cheaper.

SNO thanks for the links, if I no understand bad, the first item Voom it's only the case, second power supply and third motherboard. Do I need to buy a harddrive also o come with the motherboard???

With the items you say me if I connnect a screen will work direct?? Do you know where I can buy old carpc???, honestly I don't think it's necesary buy a good computer for see some gauges, just don't have to broke while im driving.

              thanks
