Built a new dash... and here it is:

Finally the computer and dash are in the car.

Here is the before/after picture of the dash:

    many more are available here

The screen is a Xenarc 700TSV with the ultrabright option (the angle mandated it).

I did after finishing the bondo work but then I had to go out of town on business and by the time I came back my wife needed the camera and deleted the pics...

doh ... sounds like someone needs their own memory card for christmas ...

so how'd you do it then? just glue the screen in place? what did you use to shape the sides?

Yes, I started by gluing the original face plate to the dash and used bondo (http://www.bondo-online.com/catalog_...sp?itemNbr=176) to form the edges and the front.

thast a real nice job. Why did you use bondo and not fiberglass like everyone else?

I think most people that use fiberglass also use bondo to smooth the edges. Here i just did not need to fiberglass (I tried it with fiberglass as well). This is two pieces connected together with all the gaps and sides filled by bondo.

Did you ever use bondo before? It looks really clean, but I would hate to mess up my dash. How much room for error does one have with that? Thanks
[------X---] 70% done, though that number goes up and down all the time

I never used bondo before this project. I practiced on a wood model that I built. There is room for error because you can always sand the bondo enough to put on another layer. What I did is buy second console form the dealer so I wouldn't worry about messing up the one that is in the car.
