man, that area beneath the screen is begging for some switches, or a VFD, it looks barren. But that's just me.

Where in TN are you, by the way?

Yeah, you are right. I was thinking about what I can do there and couldn't really finalize, so I left it blank. This is only the start and I can add more later. I wanted get something running.

      I'm in Knoxville.

Another Outback Sport! How are you thinking about your system?

Like in my case, I did not want anything in my trunk area. Or since I put a lot of stuff in trunk like fishing gear so trunk space was not an option.

I would like to hear what you are thinking for your setup.

You've exactly the installation I'm planning to do!!
Same disposition (I'll try with horzontal MB placement), same MB and yesterday I've take a look on the same amplifier
The car is slightly different but who cares?
Are your drives powered by the ITPS?

Extra space has its own issue, too. What to fill the space with!!
Since this was my first car modification, the extra space was very forgiving.
All I need to do know is to find something to add

MB, HDD, DVD and a few USB devices are powered by ITPS.
Monitor and USB hub are getting power from car.

You can always fill it with a multimedia reader or a pc eq. That will look nice there too and give you a better audio control. If you have the room that is.

                        Now that would be cool.
It would give me the headunit system without headunit.
                        Volume control and everything!

I have to remember this when I ready to chop up Version1.

                              Usage report

I used my system for a week or so and here are something I need to do to improve.

                              1) Since I usually leave my screen on GPS, I need separate LCD to display music info. I have seen some people doing that already, and researched LCD and Winamp plug-ins so this is doable. (I just don't know about Japanese characters, tho)

                              2) I definately need other source of volume control. All I have is MediaCar volume control and it takes afew steps to adjust volume depending on the display. Beside, knobs would be much easier. I think Powermate should take care this.

                              3) I need to tint windows.

                              4) If I have money left over after tinting, I may get darker seat cover.

                              5) I have GPS receiver on front dash, but I think I need to move that to the roof. I get decent reception now, but roof should improve that.

                              6) I need to finish rearview camera.

Other than these, the system works fine. And most of the improvements should not be too hard to do. I just need to spend a little more money

I just thought post this to let you know how it is working and give some ideas for those in planning phase
