  • GU Patrol V2

    Hi all.
Completed my lilliput indash install at last. I cheated a bit and used a laptop. It was a freebee so I cant complain.

I am very pleased with the result.

                Thanks for the feedback everyone.

The keyboard brand is E.BOX, I found it at a local computer market for $20 (ausie) it comes in usb or ps2 version. For any Sydney siders readin this it was at north rocks computer markets wich is held in north rocks westfied shopping centre every sunday morning.

As for shifting with the left hand, its great because it leaves your right hand free to do whatever you like

As for cheating. The dash area on the patrol has heaps of room. I could have done the whole fabrication routine and even used a larger screen, but because I use the system mainly for navigation is the bush, I use ozi-explorer with topographic maps, the ability to tilt the screen directly at me was a big bonus when reading detailed maps. Oh ye, and bondo is very smelly.

                Cheers

                    Djmickyg

At the bootom of the indsh conversion page there is an explation and pic of how I did it.

                    Quote from the web site
The screen is connected to a laptop under the front seat, in order to switch the laptop on remotely I had to wire up a socket on the back panel of the laptop. The socket is a standard audio socket and has two wires connecting it to the on off switch on the laptop.. I then made up a small lead with a momentarty switch at on end and plug at the other that plugs into the socket, this gives me a remote on off switch for the laptop. The green and blue wires in this photo show the location of the socket on the rear panel of the laptop.

ahh yeah,, i read most of ur page but must have skipped that bit..

im using 2 5v DPDT relays to controll the on switch and then switch it off useing the lid down switch.. all automaicly control by the ignition..

it was was almost all working but i had to resolder the wires to the bored cus the original wires i used were dirty and didnt stick too well..
now i think my 12-5 dc-dc converter has **** itself..

i might have to go manual and do something like urs.
