  • In-Car PC done in Malaysia

The In-Car PC comes with a 1GHz CPU, Micro ATX motherboard with USB, network, audio integrated and 256 DDR RAM, ASUS Display Card with video output, notebook’s hard disk, notebook’s CD-ROM drive, ITPS, DC converter and a remote control with a sleek little Infra-red receiver. The PC can be run without the ignition on because I have a 12v battery for backup.

There is no vga monitor on malaysia market at the moment. This is a TFT monitor with resonable price. I have feed the pc audio output to the original car factory player by using a little bit of electronic knowledge without any external audio amplifier. Everything is done by trial and error.... luckily no burning smell during my testing....ha ha.

My advice is try not to use the dc ac converter because it look bulky and power wasted cause dc to ac then down to dc involve some power loss. buy the dc psu coverter from mp3.com or other web site. But if you bought the dc ac converter allready, you can go to this web site for your reference:
              http://www.marauderzstuff.com/articl...tnet/index.htm
it is a nice web site from malaysian.

My backup battery is connected as a parallel with the car battery. when ever the car battery voltage drop, the backup battery will maintain the voltage.

share with us when you have done your In-car PC

car pc is still in pieces, literally.im still waititng for the car to come back from spray shop. The inverter is going into my spare tire well with plenty of cooling.I know from this thread that dc to dc is good, but i spend all my cash on the lilliput touch screen.Im using Media engine to run my setup.Where did u get ur remote?is it hard to use?
                car pc specs->Asus p4vp,p4 1.7,dvd rom,512 ddr,lilliput ts,mini keyboard,mini track ball,wifi stick,blutooth,powered usb port,...this is all i can think off at the moment.

you can get the lilliput from this fellow,[email protected],he is malaysian too..lasttime i checked he still has one lilliput lcd with ts for sale.

I bought the DC converter online.
"http://www.lex.com.tw:8080/product/Accessory-PowerBoard.htm#" cost me about RM 400 over, It provide a stable DC voltage. I dont choose an inverter because It seem like bulky and wasted a lot of power. If you using Inverter, I have found a good website created by a malaysian "http://www.marauderzstuff.com/articles/systemdotnet/index.htm", take this as reference.
The screen is AV input that I bought from Pasar Road electronic shop, brand "ZhuoPai". There is still a lot of choices depend on your budget.
Good luck and share with us your experince and problem.

ouchhh . rm400 !! I'm trying to use maestro diy power supply . much cheaper .

i think i want to buy the screen from brothers . rm368 for a 7.2" screen with car adapter and remote .

yaah . the inverter is too bulky and i can't use it more than 2 hours . it don't have any fan .

what is "maestro" diy power supply mean? is it a brand name? I have tried to use for 2 weeks real test already, now it seem like not stable. Every time pc will hang when the voltage drop below 11.5v. Now still no idea how to comfirm whether cause by this problem and how to resolve the problem.

I think it is 'Mastero' power supply the guy is from India. It is a design to build your own (DIY=do it yourself)

I was using an inverter until about 1 week ago, it was loud and huge wall warts were plugged wasting all the center console space. The Carnetix that I have now is real good.
