Since I may have very limited internet access 2 weeks from now, I figured it's time to post up my "almost" finished mp3car system. Don't laugh too hard - it isn't fully finished but is closer than quite a few for now.

    Details:
    -Compaq Presario X1000 laptop
(Dual boot with both being XP Pro. 2gig partition for mp3car os and the rest is partitioned so I can still use the laptop for school/work. Boot screen stays up for 5 seconds then automatically boots the carpc os. This way I don't have to have extra crap slowing down the comp and also so I don't have to switch res/settings/etc each time.)
-USB SB MP3+ (decent but I'm buying a Audigy soon for 5.1)
-Lilliput 7" TS (I've had this for almost 2 years now and it has given me a little headache but I can't complain since it's been rehacked almost a dozen times. Am looking at an Xenarc and then planning on making a projector (diyaudio.com) with the old lilli.)
-Bazooka 250 and 450 (2x50/4x50) powering the stock speakers (decent, but too poor to upgrade right now ) I've been very happy with the 2x50 so I picked up a 4x50 on ebay to power all 6 speakers.
-JBL 1200.1 to Infinity Perfect 12 VQ - Amp is overkill for 1 sub (blew an old perfect 12 with my old car/setup) but it was very cheap so I'm happy.
-A lot of MDF and crap...I can't find time to finish this with carpet/lexan though
    -Bluetooth to Nokia6600
    -Lots of future plans....

Frontend - Centrafuse - It kicks ***. 'nuff said.

Pics to follow below (like I said earlier no inet access soon so I can't host these myself :P)

Screen started off in my 240. Had to cut down the bezel and repaint to fit the double-din slot in the 850. Very rough progress pics.

Hey I'm also building a carputer for my 850. How did you set up your secreen in the double din, and what did you do with all the lilliput buttons? Also where is the computer?

              Hey

              Nice car and setup.

You said you had the screen in a 240 before. Have you got pictures of it? I'm starting with a car PC project in a Volvo 240 Estate.

The laptop is velcroed (works wonders...stop laughing :P) to the back seat drivers side that folds down.

The screen fits in the double-din stereo hole perfectly...it's the perfect size.

I'll find a pic of the screen in the 240 and post it in a sec - I know it's a pretty crappy pic (all of these pics suck....cheap pos digital camera )

Heres the Lilli in the 240. Little rough and paint mismatches but it got the job done and turned some heads still :-P

                      Help

What did you use to create the border around the screen? And did you remove the LCD from its original casing. And also did you use dye or paint? Sorry for all of these questions but I need to ask as many as I can for you are the only other 850 owner I can find on this site.

I hacked the the case up a bit. I also had to remove the buttons (Extended the IR reciever to the AC vent to use the remote still. Now the stupid touchscreen is starting to malfunction when it heats up....still searching/working to fix that.
Other than that all you have to do is add some bondo to fill in and smooth out and paint it whatever color you want. (From what I remember...It's been more than a year since I've seen the Lilliput in it's orig casing. :P :P

Did some searches and found a few pictures of the LCD molding for the first car. To switch over to the 850 see the above pictures where I had to cut off the bottom and sides to size.

How did you attach the screen itself to the double din? Did you just wedge it in there or did you screw it some how?
