Wow, you have a lot of gear stashed in your car. Do you not use your rearview mirror when you drive?

my review mirror, i actually slid it over to the left about 2 inches and there is an adjustable neck on it so i rotate that neck over to the left and i get a full range outside the back window, drop down lcd doesnt interfere or get in the way at all... and the lcd picture looks really good considering it's not vga (after all its right in my face)...However the inverter causes the lcd to get signal lines in it, very faint wavy-ish lines... i isolated it to the power inverter when turned the inverter switch off and ran the power to the back of the pc via extention cord from house... i tried grounding the pc case and the inverter both to the frame of the car... no beans, didnt even budge the interference... so im guessing that the inverter introduces some low noise into the entire electrial system... or maybe its from the alternater going into the inverter... autozone guy told me my altanater was going bad.... any suggestions?

with that out of the way..

The finger pad (in my opinion) is the best for in car use.. no need to worry about the mouse moving around while your driving.. and theres a scroll area on the side of the finger pad to simulate a mouse wheel, works good in winamp ;-)

I like how you made a vent to the car interior. I am putting my ATX carputer in my trunk and wondered how I would get some fresh air back there.

I like your trunk setup. Tell us more about your trunk cooling solution. I was considering something very similar. I would loose the track pad and get a cheap RF remote. I'm using an ATI remote wonder which I'm very happy with.

The highgain omni is an overkill and a nice touch I might add. Have you considered mounting in another position? What type of adapater are you using it with and how is your war driving performance?

Do you find the display a distraction while driving? I feel very certain that if I had a review mounted display I would be hassled by the local police or kill myself tragicly in a car wreck. I would think that night time operation would be almost blinding.

You might try a ferrite RF choke which will help elminate EMI which might be the problem with your rca connection. If that doesn't help you might try purchasing high end component cables which have good shielding. Monster Cables makes a good product but very expensive. I believe a good set of cables can cost around $70. I would try the choke first.

Awsome thanks cashmoney for the advice, about the distraction... what i do at night is i turn the brightness way down, or i just flip it up all together and just listen to the tunes.. local police already pulled me over forhaving winamp vis going on las vegas blvd. :-X lol but they didnt write me a ticket, however they said that anything other then a reverse cam or navigation was a distraction and couldnt be in the drivers view, so i take it that i can have it down 24/7 as long as i have the gps running.. anyways... about the cooling... i live in nevada, and yes it gets HOT! so the ac is my best friend and the cab-to-trunk vent i installed help by about 75%, putting the back seats down works, but when i installed the vent, this allowed me to be able to always keep the seats up (dark in the trunk... keeps it cooler) so when i turn the car on... i put the ac on and that vent pulls that cool cab air right into the case and right onto the processor... there are 2 fans installed on the dryer vent (about 5 bucks at lowes) one at the top and one on the case, ill take more pics of the actual install and if you guys are interested ill write up a tutorial with some pics in my spare time..

p.s. you mentioned a "RF remote" instead of the finger pad... why and do you have any links for the rf remote..

I think the keypad and touchpad add too much clutter for your install. I'm not sure what everyone else is using but I'm really happy with my ATI Remote Wonder. It's a RF (Radio Frequency) so it does not have to be line of sight. You can hide the USB reciever in the trunk and use it without a problem. The Remote Wonder is a bit more bulky then most would like but I think it's a good solution. The remote is a mouse pointer along with several mapable keys.

Please share your pics in a worklog for your ventalation system. I was considering something similar but was worried about how finished it would look. You did a good job on making it look sharp.
