Good call on using Gentoo, that's what I use on my laptop. If you need any help w/ getting software suspend to work, let me know. swsusp2 patches work really well and have a lot of options. You could also use ACPI calls to put it in swsusp when the power button is "pressed." It's too bad linux doesn't have a good gps program cuz I would much rather use gentoo in my car than winblows. I know u can wine a couple, but that's just so dirty. Anyone got gps programming skills and want to work on a linux project? I actually know how to program a mapquest type thing, but it uses vertex data in a text file, not maps. I have no idea how efficient it would be either.
