  • 93 Toyota 4Runner...

    Hi guy's..

I've been working on this install for about 3 weeks now I guess and I'm only about 2/3 complete. I thought I'd share some photos of the job as the site has been some helpfull to me.

    Hardware:

M-ATX Mobo, PIII 1000, 512MB SDRAM, 40GB Lappy drive, 7" Liliput touch, D-Link Wf-Fi, Morex 80W PSU. Soon to be added is a new head unit with AUX inputs as my modulator sucks!

    Anyways.. Here are some pics:
    Attached Files
    System: PIII 1000, 512 MEG SDRAM, 40GB 2.5" HDD, D-Link Wi-Fi, Morex 80W PSU, 7" Lilliput.

Hello, I have a 1994 toyota pickup, what are you going to do about the screen in the dash? I'd like to see some pictures of the whole 4runner...

At the moment I have it mounted as the picture shows (temp)

I am still trying to figure the best way to mount it in dash so it's angled up enough to minimise glare in the day light.

First thanks for the picture... I'm looking to do the same thing. I have a CB that I have installed under my HU. I've been racking my brain for a suitable place to put it. Do you think I would have enough room to have a slim drive below the screen and the CB below that? Removing the cig. lighter and ash tray that I don't use anyway.

I haven't actually had it running in the car yet. I have had it mounted while driving and I don't think it would be that bad. I'll keep you guys posted.

I think that if you got rid of the ashtray you would probably have enough room. I tried to fit a slotload DVD drive under the screen and there wasn't enough room without modifing the panel and getting rid of the ashtray. I wasn my setup to look factory so I am going to make a new center console to house the DVD drive and my 5.1 decoder.

Hi Meddler, I just realized that we have the same truck just different name... I have two amps. in the storage compartments in the extended part of the cab. Where did you put the computer in the truck? Under the seat would be kind of combersome and unsightly, I was hoping to put it in with the subs but do you think the virations from the system would shake it apart? Or do you think the glove box would be large enough? What's your bulid up and purpose for your system (Media, GPS, OBD-I...)?

Sub is in the storgae compartment under the rear seats on one side. I had to make it out of fibreglass to fit. PSU and HDD + fuse block is in the storage compartment on the other side. PC is in one of the storage areas in the side of the extra cab and the amps will be behind a custom rear seat cushion under the rear window. Haven't looked at putting the mobo in the glove box. I wanted to keep that for storage.
In a truck that small, vibrations are always going to be a problem, but I don't think you will have a problem.
purpose for the build. Well that is a long story. started off as just an mp3 player and got out of control. So just about everything.

I too have a 4runner its a 94, same dash. I had to take the touch screen off to see the thing in the daylight. I mounted the same place, where the stock stereo is in the double din. I cut the case of the lilliput to fit and made a wood bracket to screw it too. Then moved my pioneer head unit down lower between the two brackets running up the center of the dash. I think if you get your windows tinted the glare would be cut down alot, but not much you can do about the front windshield. If you can get it recessed in that same spot it would help more as well.
