I have been looking at the Alpine PXA-H701 with a sound card that will allows digital out (probably the Audigy PCMCIA). I want to keep things digital as much as possible until just before it goes into the amp.

Looking at the manual for the Alpine unit it shows three sets of digital inputs. Creative lists the Audigy digital out as 'SPDIF', while alpine just says 'Fiber Optic Cable'. I am assuming that that they are the same and you went directly from you sound card into the digital 'headunit' input on the proccessor.

    Is this right?

    Thanks,

EDIT: I just answered my own question. You link was broken, but then I noticed the CarDomain link in you signature. Very nice competition system. Very well done, also. I could see the optical cable in your pics. Thank You for taking so many.

you will have to get a 1/8" phono to tos-link adapter.

I got mine at radio shack for about $2.

I just realized I didn't update this with new kick pictures...instead I started a new thread for it....stupid me....

        new kicks:

        http://www.mj-garage.com/cpg/thumbnails.php?album=64

we are soon to start rebuilding the amp rack for the new focal amplifiers and possibly the sub enclosure to try and get a bit more volume out of it...I'll try and remember to update this thread with those pictures.

I've also updated the first post in this thread with the current components.

Today we worked on building enclosures for the Be mids.

I still think I'm high off of fumes...lol

here's a link to where the pics for the enclosures starts: http://www.mj-garage.com/cpg/thumbna...lbum=64&page=2

Since we have no room in the car, we had to build out side of the car. Should have some more pics of the drivers side tomorrow after work.

Mmmm..Red....you have a very interesting W cone driver over there!!! Not in the catalogue... How do you find the Steg K2? vs Qmos? Other brands? I am going to use 2 K2.01 for my 100kp and 165K3 midbass for front stage. Felt that Qmos was more dynamic? Power cable was not properly tapped during my audition so I don't know if that is the reason why. But obviously K2 sounded more open and instruments more distinct from each other.

I have never heard the Qmos actually.

Comparing the STEG K series and the Audison LRx that we were running before, the STEGs have loads more head room, are much more linear, and have a more live, impactful sound.

We are extremely happy with these amps...so much so, that we will be sticking with them this year for the move from Intermediate Consumer to Advanced Pro in USACi and from Street Amature to StreetPro in IASCA.

Everything is looking good. I havent' been on the forum in a while but decided to come check things out. I started on my 00 Silverado ext. cab a little over a week ago. So far I've got most of the framework done on the dash. Hopefully I'll be able to get it glasses this weekend if not first part of the week. Also got it all deadened. I ended up sing 125 sq ft of Raamat and 7 yards of the ensolite foam. I still need a litte bit more but I ran out. I'll probably just get some Dynamat Extreme to cover the other areas that need done. For this truck I am going to use a Canton Pullman 4" midrange, Canton Pullman 1" tweeter, and my Dynaudio MW170 8" midbass. The Canton is the old stuff. I got it from one of our distributors that had 3 sets left in the warehouse that they found when doing inventory. Anyway the 4's will be in the dash, tweets in the pillars, and midbass in the kick panel. I'll have my IDMAX 12" in the center console in the front of the vehicle. I just recently bought the Alpine W200 and PXA-H701. Still using my usamps and will be running an amp on each set of speakers. Can't wait to get it all done and listen. I'll probably get on here and post pictures when I find my usb cable for my camera. I seem to have misplaced it.
