  • 2002 Acura TLS laptop install

    Finally the carputer is stable enough hardware, and software wise, for everyday use. Still tweaking on some of the hardware mounting (my weak point).

    Design allows easy removal of PC box for debug in the house, although most software debug I do using Remote Administrator with carputer in the car.

    Software using Road Runner with b8bboi (proximos CF blue) skin, Garmin Nroute software embedded with Skinbedder and Navivoice.

    Hardware using Garmin GPS 18, Creative labs usb backup webcam, Escort 8500 radar detector, Linksys USB wifi, XM radio, Creative Labs Audigy PCMCIA, cheap sub amp, cheap 4 channel amp.

    Work in progress- Bluetooth keyboard and phone control.

    Very nice and clean install. Maybe you should try the red or orange skin and see if it matches your car's interior.
    iGMon - Integration between iGuidance and Road Runner

        @ b8bboi
        I love the orange skin but I have some modified buttons on the blue main screen that I will need to modify on the orange skin before I can use it. I put an XM and CAM buttons on the main screen since I use them most often.

        @rebelleader
        I can take more pictures of the screen. What are you looking for in the pictures?

                I hope you found the guy that did that to your car.

                And I hope you learned your lesson..... Dont leave your Doors unlocked, windows down and trunk open while the chain gang cleans up the side of the road next to your house.

                          @proximo- Your skin works really well for me. I know how much work it is to put these together and you did a great job.

                          @solokimm- The push button on the lower right part of the screen is wired to the on-off switch of the laptop so I manually jump start it out of standby every time I start the car.

                          @turbocad6- I haven't noticed any problems with the long xenarc usb connection. Obviously I had to extend the usb and video cables and it seems to work well. The laptop case is resting on the floor of the trunk with some fairly hard closed cell foam to cut down on any vibration noise. I also have fixed bolts I mounted to some sheetmetal above the wheel well to hold the box tight to the side. It takes about 30 seconds to un-cable and un-bolt and remove from the car.

                              Thanks!
                              There is a grommet with some wires exiting the trunk that I managed to shove the USB connector through.
