  • 2006 M45 Sport with Mac-Mini and Front Row

    Here is my install...

2006 Infiniti M45 Sport. Apple Mac-Mini installed in the center console. Audio out via a Griffin iMic. Video out through Apple's DVI to Composite video adapter. Remote control via bluetooth with the Palm Treo 650 running Salling Clicker. Kensington bluetooth mini-mouse for browsing the web and controlling the computer. The Mac-Mini has built-in wifi for wireless web access and can also get online using the Treo 650's bluetooth dial-up connection through sprint.

I thought the Griffin iMic was line level out, but it's not. Anyone know of a USB to audio line level out device? Also, I get a little bit of noise in the audio when it's turned up. I think it may be from the power from the car, I'm just using a small inverter now. Is there a power conditioner or noise reducer I can use? thanks for any tips/advice....

Wow, that looks very good. Is that the OEM Navigation screen?

both screens are OEM.... the resolution of the front screen (8") is pretty good when using the infiniti navigation and such, I would think it's running a vga signal to the screen, would be great if I could tap into that, and use the screen to it's capacity from the Mac-Mini....

You probably could... this guy in Brooklyn sells a bypass module that you can use to tap into the oem NAV screen in Nissan/Infiniti cars. I bought one for my brother-in-law and he went and traded twice since then... I think he's got a Q now, but he's given up on modding since he's leasing and changing cars like I change underwear...

This is what it looks like:

As you can see the model number and phone # to the shop is there. You can call them up and find out if it works on your car or if they make one that does. I have that one sitting in a box now so if they tell you it works let me know and we can make a deal.

thans for the pics, and info.... I called them up.... their interface does what the M45 with tech package already comes with, brings in the composite video.... they said there isn't enough demand to build an VGA interface to use the screens full potential.... they said it's CGA, and needs sync on green, etc.. etc..

this is good for those who didn't get the tech package though....

just bought this firewire tv tuner to hook up to the mac-mini.... I won't use it in hdtv mode, but the digital picture in 480i should look good:

                        wow

Rsync X is used to update the Mac-Mini's iTunes library each night with the latest music, videos, and playlists from the Power Mac G5 inside the house.
                        disgustingly sick
