  • The 'stang is finally done! (For Now)

So the goal here was to install a fully funtional computer into my mustang while also keeping it 100% easily reversible while not looking like i just stuck a screen on my dash. The only thing that was altered in the car was extending the radio bracket allowing the head unit to move back and the screen to fit flush with rest of the dash. I also fabricated a small hinge to allow the screen to pull down allowing access to the radio and also making it possible to remove the screen easily for when I'm parked at school (cincy isn't the safest area).

So heres what I've got so far:
MAC Mini w/ Bluetooth and Wireless
    7" Liliput Screen
    Carnetix Power Supply
Run in through AUX IN on stock stereo

GPS coming within the next 3 months

whoa, factory stereo.. haven't seen one of those since I ripped mine out 4 years ago. I like your mounting system. May consider doing something like that on mine, rather than have to use a in-deck monitor.

Hey thanks guys, sorry still no better overall shots but I found a couple for those interested in the hinge.

The hinge I bought at lowes and is just an ordinary cabinet one that springs back to 90 degrees. I took the hinge apart and carefully welded a couple of small pieces to it. One to make sure the screen is at the right angle and the other to fit into the mounting slot on the back of the screen. The mounts on the same holes as the stereo bracket with a little widening. After thats on just replace the bezel and you have a nice flush/semi permanent mount.

As for placement of the computer, the MAC Mini fits perfectly underneath the passenger seat.

Hope to get some more pics soon.

looks very nice. I am a big fan of the ability to reverse your system. as a student you never really know when youre going to sell. For me I have to sell mine with carPC (if I were to sell - which Im not) This was well thought out and built. Congrats.

Nice Job! Well thought out design. I also wanted the reversible option, but I went a little differente route.... I just replaced everything. I did leave all the wiring for the original system and have all the components in a box sitting in the basement. I just ran new wiring and replace the center console with a modified used one and voila! a completely reversible install (with some work). Nevertheless nice install and keep up the good work!!!!

                        Go STANGS!!!!
