  • My 2006 project.

Well first off I would like to thank every one on this board for getting me to spend almost every cent I have on this project. No really I never would of found the lilput and software with out you guys.
CDR, Xeon kicks major ***, thanks alot man for all your hard work.

I got the laptop free from work, it is a Compaq Evo 610 P4 1.8mhz/512mb/80gb, its a little beat up but it does the trick. I went cheap on the soundcard, for now Im using an Soundblaster Live 24bit USB soundcard. I still need to get the XM, FM and Nav hardware but I think that I still have way more features than the factory Nav system, I have 60gb of mp3s at my finger tips.

The car is still in the test phase, so there is still alot of work to do. I am just getting started on the amp rack and laptop trays. I am also going to redo the dash and add a pwr button and hdd/pwr leds.

Here are some pics, thanks for clicking.

I bought a new dash kit for a civic with factory nav.
The surround is 1/4in press-board, cut to fit with 1/2 spacers to bring the screen out to factory location.

This is the back of the dash kit. I created a back plate and screwed that into the front spacers, holding everything together.

    New dash kit installed

    The car.

(/flame_off about the rims, I got sidetracked with this whole 'puter thing)

Let me know what you think

I've been thinking about getting a civic and i was wondering how the original nav would work. Is the oem nav a touchscreen and if so could you just jack into the signal going into it?
      Anyhow nice work.

i beleive the oem navi is touch screen and voice controlled from the stering wheel. the navi made for the civic is made by alpine and there backordered. basically meaning unless your lucky and find one, be prepared to wait 6 months for that car with navi. then again unless your lucky or dont mind traveling to find one prepare to wait for an si especially with the navi system on it.

erie. nice work. looks clean. theres a couple other si's with carputers going in them if you look around the worklogs. each of us going a diff route.

It looks like you titnted your GG like i did mine with a 5%, but how is the glare on the screen during the day with the 5 foot long windshield?

There is an "electric pearl blue" civic at he local dealership that has nav built in. Everytime I drive past there I have to whipe the drewl off my bottom lip. I stopped in the other day and the sales rep was trying to get me to test drive it but I know that if I do I won't be able to keep myself from buying it.

yrean - The glare is bad. One of the reasons that Im redoing the screen is to remove some of the slant the factory nav has and point the screen more toward the driver. The best part about this is that I havent modifyed any parts of my car. I can go back to stock in about an hour install work.

josephyancey - buy it, come on you know you want to. chicks really dig the car!
